With 136,000 square feet of innovative learning space, you can study in modern classrooms, practice in simulation labs equipped with industry-current technology and high-fidelity manikins, and even grab a quick bite at our on-site café.  West Coast University Career Services will help students work towards their career goals while they are still completing their program.

Students in our physician assistant and nursing programs have access to a range of tools for hands-on learning as they pursue their healthcare or nursing degree. Where is West Coast University-Texas located?

West Coast University-Texas is located in Richardson, Texas, part of the Dallas Metroplex. The 136,000-square-foot campus gives you access to simulation labs with industry-current technology and high-fidelity manikins, along with an on-site café.

Is WCU-Texas accredited?

Yes. WCU is institutionally accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), an institutional accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) and the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

West Coast University’s nursing programs are programmatically accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The pre-licensure nursing programs at WCU-Texas are also approved by the Texas Board of Nursing.

The Master of Physician Assistant (MPA) program has been granted Accreditation- Provisional status by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. (ARC-PA).

What programs does WCU-Texas offer?

WCU-Texas offers three on-campus programs:

How long does it take to complete the BSN program at WCU-Texas?

You can earn your BSN at WCU-Texas in as few as 39 months at the Accelerated pace. The program requires 120 semester credits across 8 semesters, and you’ll typically attempt two courses per term.

Does WCU-Texas have a waitlist for the nursing program?

No, WCU-Texas doesn’t have a waitlist for its nursing programs. That means you can start your education without delays. The BSN and LVN to BSN programs are currently enrolling.

What are the simulation labs like at WCU-Texas?

The simulation labs at WCU-Texas are equipped with industry-current technology. Our nursing labs feature high-fidelity manikins that realistically model a variety of medical scenarios, from chest infections to seizures and even childbirth. Our MPA program has multiple simulation labs, including one virtual dissection table on campus and patient simulators and the dissection software is available to all students.

Whichever program you’re enrolled in, you’ll have the chance to develop clinical skills for everything from routine care to emergency scenarios. You’ll also benefit from instructor feedback to build your confidence before you begin clinical placements.

What student support services does WCU-Texas provide?

WCU-Texas is dedicated to supporting you from the day you first inquire about our programs to the day you graduate and beyond. We select faculty for their passion for teaching and mentorship as well as for their experience in their field.

Our campus has a dedicated clinical placement support team. We also offer our nursing students specific, guided preparation for the NCLEX-RN licensing examination.

The Career Services Department is committed to helping you with professional development throughout your education and beyond.

Is financial aid available at WCU-Texas?

Financial aid and scholarships are available for those who qualify. WCU-Texas offers several scholarship and grant opportunities, including:

  • New Student Achievement Grant – Up to $9,500 per academic year
  • Nursing Excellence Grant – Up to $1,125 per full-time semester for eligible
    students employed by a WCU clinical partner
  • Greg Jarvis Simulation Scholarship – $1,000 per recipient per term
  • WCU Alumni Scholarship – For students maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.0
    or higher
  • Norma Ford Memorial Scholarship – Award varies, but may provide up to $10,000 per year based on the student’s need

Federal financial aid programs may include Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG), and Federal Work Study.
