The hybrid Direct-Entry Master of Science in Nursing program at WCU-Miami offers a graduate-level pathway into nursing for individuals who already hold a bachelor’s degree and are ready for a professional transition. Our two-year program integrate pre-licensure nursing education with master’s-level coursework to support students as they prepare for registered nurse (RN) licensure and purse a purpose-driven career.
The DEMSN program is designed for individuals who hold a non-nursing bachelor’s degree and are looking for a clear entry point into the nursing profession. Students enter the program after completing four required prerequisite courses (available at WCU), which establish a scientific foundation before beginning graduate-level nursing coursework focused on RN licensure preparation and development of master’s level professional competencies.
In addition to completing online graduate-level coursework, DEMSN students gain hands-on clinical experience and participate in simulation-based learning at WCU-Miami campus. Coursework, simulation, and clinical experiences work together throughout the program to prepare students for the NCLEX-RN® and develop the clinical judgement needed as an entry-level registered nurse.
Changing careers is a significant decision — especially when entering a profession as demanding as nursing. At WCU–Miami, students benefit from a nursing education shaped by decades of experience delivering pre-licensure and graduate nursing programs. The DEMSN builds on WCU’s established BSN foundation, clinical partnerships, and student support systems to help career changers move forward with confidence.

The COA includes both direct and indirect cost estimates and are categorized as follows: (1) Direct costs are paid directly to West Coast University and are shown separately for each program; (2) Indirect costs are not paid to West Coast University and are estimates students may use to budget expenses they may incur while attending school. While actual indirect costs may vary, West Coast University estimates these amounts based on the number of months in an academic year and whether students will live with parents or off campus.
