Students at West Coast University-Dallas got their first look at the new Career Services suite at an open house this May.
“The new space has allowed us to expand our resource area so we are able to provide and display more information about volunteer and career opportunities,” WCU-Dallas Career Services Director Valerie Shaw said.
Held from May 16-18, the new Career Services reveal was themed “Oh, the places you’ll go” in nursing careers. Information on a variety of specialties was provided along with coffee and cookies for the students. Employers from Senior Helpers, MGA Pediatrics and Baylor Scott & White were also on-hand to promote their employment opportunities and take part in the festivities.
Staff showed off the remodeled area, which includes two computer workstations for students to use for job search and filling out applications, and an interview room where Career Services can conduct mock interviews.
Additionally, the new Career Services space has a computer equipped with a webcam for students to utilize whenever they have video interviews.
The new Career Services suite was created as part of a larger campus reshuffling. A new Student Affairs area was also unveiled recently and will host its own open house in June to encourage students to stop by.
