West Coast University-Orange County hosted a Nursing Specialty Showcase this July that allowed current students to speak with WCU alumni about their careers.
“There’s med surg, oncology, labor and delivery, for example, we’re just going to talk to the students about our experience and how it’s going for us and how West Coast University prepared us for everything,” Justin Cinco said. “When you’re a student you’re anxious about everything and you don’t know what the path that lies ahead for you is, but an event like this allows us alumni to give them a glimpse into that future.”
Over 10 alumni were at the event, sharing their experiences and tips to current students. Specialties represented at the event included ER, ICU, flight nurse, labor and delivery, oncology, school nurse, med surg, pediatrics, mental health, OR, aesthetics and rehabilitation.
“It was nice to be able to give back to the school, continue the tradition and give to the next group,” Stephen Ruvalcaba said. “We always say we inspire other nurses and they inspire us to be better and be better than we were before.”
