On April 13, West Coast University-Orange County’s dental hygiene program celebrated 25 graduates at their pinning ceremony. The newly minted bachelor of science in dental hygiene graduates, along with friends and family, filled the Orangewood Academy Auditorium to celebrate completing their program.
Dean of Dental Hygiene Michelle Hurlbutt welcomed those in attendance and expressed how excited she was to honor WCU’s most recent dental hygiene program alumni.
In addition to the traditional pinning ceremony, WCU faculty also presented students with awards in recognition of their hard work throughout the program. Awards such as the Colgate Award, Research Award and the Dean’s Award were given to those dedicated students.
Graduates Jessica Williams and Sueng Mi Yu were also honored during the ceremony by being chosen to join the National Dental Hygiene Honor Society, Sigma Phi Alpha. Dean Hurlbutt shared that Williams and Yi were selected to join this prestigious honor society by being “true leaders on campus through scholarship and service throughout their time at West Coast University.”
