Career Services Heats Things Up at WCU-Ontario’s Winter Wonderland Student Employment Resource Fair 2016

More than 70 students eager to learn about what they can do to stand out as new registered nurse (RN) graduates attended the Winter Wonderland Student Employment Resource Fair at West Coast University-Ontario in December 2016.

“This event was focused on showcasing student employment opportunities for our BSN students,” Michelle Meitner, director of Career Services at WCU-Ontario, said. “Many of our new graduates who are already working in hospitals or healthcare facilities are able to transition right into new graduate RN positions. They are building skills such as customer service and critical thinking during their employment which transfer into their new RN role.”

Representatives from Victor Valley Global Medical Center and Casa Colina attended the event to showcase student employment opportunities and also to talk about their new graduate RN programs. Meitner said many of our January 2017 graduates were able to speak with the two organizations about their upcoming RN new graduate programs and how to apply.

“Reach out to the career center at your school to go over your resume,” Casa Colina recruiter Christopher Jacuinde said. “We do look at spelling errors and so forth on the resumes so definitely work on it. Take some time before submitting it and mention your clinical hours and any other experience that you have. Be sure to mention anything that will make you unique, that makes you stand out from any other student at your campus.”
