Once a term, West Coast University-Ontario hosts a LinkedIn lab to help students and alumni build their resume and provide them with a professional profile picture.
At the LinkedIn lab on Jan. 19, WCU-Ontario Class of 2017 alumnus Jenny Asuncion shared how she utilized LinkedIn to find a job after graduation.
“Whenever you connect with different people [in LinkedIn], you see their heading, some are very professional and some are creative,” she said. “Imagine you’re a recruiter, would you pick a headline that says ‘BSN graduate’ or ‘Future ER nurse?'”
During her time on campus, Asuncion said she met with Career Services regularly and attended LinkedIn labs on campus.
By using LinkedIn as a professional tool, Asuncion was contacted by many recruiters directly about different RN opportunities. She even had a chief nursing officer (CNO) openly offer her a spot with their hospital through LinkedIn.
In December 2017, Asuncion met with that CNO and received an official offer and is now working.
