WCU-OC Shares Its ‘Love for Learning’ on Valentine’s Day

Staff at West Coast University-Orange County “spread the love” on Valentine’s Day during the “Love for Learning” event held in Anaheim.

The WCU-OC Student Affairs team sponsored the event, which was filled with goodies and raffles to inform students about the services offered to them by WCU. It was held from 11:30 am-1:30 pm on Feb. 14, at both the Manchester campus and the La Palma Learning site.

Student Services Director Sherry Koshi said 156 students participated in the event at both campuses.

“What I like about this event is that the whole campus gets together and participates,” Koshi said. “This event allows students to maximize their opportunities.”

Dental Hygiene Professor Mihaela Popa hosted an interactive game for nursing students at the La Palma Learning site.

“The nursing students were surprised to learn that oral conditions affect the rest of the body. I was excited to provide them with additional information and spark their interest about the oral health,” Popa noted.

This event was especially important for those students who just started at WCU. For example, first-term BSN student Lupe Candelario said the event was excellent and that she was feeling the love. Her fellow student, Mariya Houser, said she learned to utilize the peer-assisted learning (PALs).

Student Affairs hosts events such as “Love for Learning” periodically throughout the year to alert the students to all services available for them. The department aims to help all WCU students become aware of the great number of resources available to succeed in the program.
