WCU-OC Celebrates 80 BSN Graduates at April Pinning

Over 80 West Coast University-Orange County students celebrated the completion of their bachelor of science in nursing program at Cerritos Park East on April 23 in front of friends and family. Each student walked the stage with pride as they were called up to receive their pin and lantern.

Cohort speaker Saleha Mayet-Hussain shared inspiring and motivating words to her fellow classmates, families, friends and WCU staff in attendance.

“We have had to make many sacrifices to be here missing out on birthdays, weddings, spending time with our kids, families and most importantly sleep. However, we stayed true to our passion in wanting to help others whether it be by helping to bring a life into this world or make someone comfortable as they leave. Our goal is to help others,” she said. “Trying times like those I would reflect on some famous lyrics from Eminem: ‘If you had One-shot/Or one opportunity/To seize everything you ever wanted/In one moment/Would you capture it/Or just let it slip?’ Since I started my nursing journey in 2010 climbing the ladder by getting my CNA, LVN, and now getting my RN, BSN those lyrics have helped encourage and motivate me to help achieve my goal. This today is our moment our opportunity to seize to be the best we can be.”
