WCU Alumni Spotlight: Cynthia Pezeshgian, RN, BSN ’18

Since graduating from West Coast University in 2018 with her bachelor’s of science in nursing degree, Cynthia Pezeshgian has acquired a diverse background from bedside nursing to psychiatric and aesthetics.

One of just 10 applicants chosen out of 500, Cynthia was accepted to Kaiser Permanente Panorama City Medical Center’s new graduate nurse residency program. Currently a telemetry nurse at Kaiser Permanente, Cynthia works with cardiac disease, stroke, and pulmonary complication patients.

Cynthia’s passion for her profession knows no bounds – her experiences with each one of her patients has only fueled her desire to continue her education. It is this drive that has brought Cynthia back to WCU’s master’s program, where she is pursuing her dream of becoming a nurse practitioner.

“I am thankful to WCU for preparing me and giving me the knowledge to become a successful nurse that I am today.”

What does receiving the Alumni Scholarship mean to you?

Receiving this scholarship means a lot to me. The scholarship means I had a lot of supporters and I have achieved my goals of becoming one of the best students and a successful nurse that I am today. I have higher goals to achieve and I look forward to striving them.

How will your scholarship help you achieve your educational goal?

The scholarship decreases the amount of loans I need to take for my NP program. It gives me the peace of mind that I will have less loans to pay back.

What was the process like applying to the WCU Alumni Scholarship Fund?

It was a very easy and smooth process. The requirements are listed on the WCU website. The scholarship deadlines are posted in advance so that students have sufficient time to complete and submit the scholarship.

Why do you think it’s important to give to the Alumni Scholarship Fund?

The Alumni Scholarship fund assists those Alumni who are back to school to further their education. The scholarship helps to lower the debts and loans to be taken out.

Would you like to share a positive message with current nursing students?

One thing I say when nursing students ask me for advice is to keep working hard and never give up! Always know that it will all be worth it in the end.
