More than 80 West Coast University nursing students recently were inducted into the world’s only international honor society for nurses.
The Chi Beta Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society is now 471 members strong after the Spring induction ceremony in Buena Park. The organization represents more than 135,000 nurses in 90 countries.
“It’s a very distinguished honor for our students tonight and we welcome them into our honor society,” Julie France, WCU clinical development director and Chi Beta president-elect, said.
To be eligible for an invitation to the honor society, students must be halfway through their nursing program and be in the top 35 percent of their class.
“It’s great to see these students, that want to carry on and give back to nursing and contribute beyond the time of their education,” France said. “They finish school and they still want to give back, so we welcome them into our chapter to help us advance what we do, which is give back to the community through philanthropy, advocacy, promoting lifelong learning and influencing public policy.”
