Ask A Recruiter: Chief Nursing Officer, Memorial Hospital of Gardena

As the chief nursing officer at Memorial Hospital of Gardena, the one thing Joe Lopez-Cepero wants in new hires is something that isn’t learned in a classroom.

“My most important thing always is personality. I want someone who has a strong desire to serve people. That’s very important to me. When it comes to clinical quality, I am confident that the graduates have great clinical quality, but I can’t teach personality,” Lopez-Cepero said at a career fair at West Coast University-Orange County. “I can teach clinical skills. So I really look for people who have a good personality, because I want to grow that and I’m trying to drive a culture that really wants to be customer service driven and focused first.”
