WCU-Miami Presents DAISY-in-Training Award to Dayna Monasterio

The DAISY Award for Student Nurses was presented to West Coast University-Miami student Dayna Monasterio for her above and beyond caring attitude for patients this June.

Monasterio’s nominating instructor said the WCU-Miami student always displays “a level of professionalism I have only seen in a handful of nurses. I have gotten many compliments from patients, family members, nurse, and directors. She displays compassion and a caring attitude with everyone she meets.”

Congratulations Dayna! Thank you for being a great example of a WCU nursing student.

he DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the auto-immune disease ITP in 1999. During his hospitalization, they deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. After his death, Patrick’s family felt compelled to say “thank you” to nurses in a very public way and the DAISY award was their solution.
