Clinical Partner Spotlight: Nicklaus Children’s Hospital

Chief Nursing Officer Dr. Jackie Gonzalez won’t say nurses at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami, FL are the best in the nation, but that doesn’t mean she is being humble.

“This nursing department at this hospital is competitive with any nursing department — and better than most — across the county,” she said.

Gonzalez said her staff at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital are “absolutely committed to zero-harm, to good outcomes with our patients and we’ve been recognized for that.”

Recent accomplishments for the 289-bed facility include commendation from the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators, two intensive care units winning gold Beacon Awards for Excellence from the Association of Critical Care Nurses and the hospital’s fourth magnet designation.

“You don’t get there without really pushing that envelope and our staff is phenomenal,” Gonzalez said, “so I am sure any student who comes here will have a wonderful experience with our teams and will learn a lot.”
