Global Public Health Students Travel to Belize

WCU students participated in the Global Public Health Program by traveling to the Toledo district of Belize from Feb. 21-March 7, 2015. Students are able to experience life as a resident of the small town of Punta Gorda. Clinical work was conducted in conjunction with Hillside Health Care International, a health care non-governmental organization, which operates both a fixed clinic in the town of Eldridgeville and mobile clinics throughout the Toledo district.

“The experience was transformational for both students and faculty with significant professional growth witnessed within every West Coast University student. The group was exposed to many unique experiences, including developing a more personal relationship with patients, faculty and one another. Many wonderful friendships were sparked on the journey,” said Bethany Thrasher, International Education Faculty Manager.
