West Coast University welcomed its first Master of Physician Assistant program to the clinical phase of their education at the program’s inaugural white coat ceremony this November.
Held at the Barnsdall Gallery in Los Angeles, the MPA cohort donned their white coats in front of friends and families, signifying a new chapter in the 24-month program.
“We have enjoyed getting to know each of you, your unique personalities, and how those personalities will translate into patient care and further serve your communities,” WCU MPA dean and program director Dr. Elizabeth Bunting said.
During the ceremony, Dr. Scott Richards, campus director of Academic Education, explained the importance of what the white coat represents, including its history and function.
“Now you start seeing, taking care of, and saving patients,” Richards said.
The MPA cohort received their white coats from MPA faculty members Dr. Bernardo Mucha, Dr. Michael Estrada, and Laura Cipperly. Professor Gina LaMandre led the cohort in the PA Professional Oath.
