More than 80 new nursing students took their first step towards a career in healthcare at West Coast University-Ontario’s orientation day.
WCU-Ontario Student Affairs Director Jonathan Langley said the 88 new students had the chance to meet Dr. Bart Lerner, Dean Kathleen Payne and a variety of on-campus staff and faculty during the morning and afternoon sessions on June 7.
Lerner — in addition to his “Price is Right” story — wowed the group with his memory name game. Many others walked away inspired about becoming nurses after hearing an address by Dean Payne and Executive Director Danielle Sperandeo.
Students also enjoyed an on-campus “scavenger hunt” in small groups while guided by current students who volunteer in the PAL (Peer Assisted Learning) program.
