Scholarships & Grants

Scholarships and grants are a type of aid that doesn’t need to be repaid.

When you are the recipient of a scholarship or grant, you get funding to go towards your degree that you don’t need to repay except in extreme circumstances (such as withdrawing from school and owing a refund). All kinds of organizations can offer scholarships — from nonprofits to religious groups to private companies. However, in this section, we will focus on government grants and West Coast University scholarships.

Federal Grants

The federal government offers need-based grants, such as the Pell Grant, to qualifying students. The first step to apply is to fill out the FAFSA. If you qualify for a grant from the federal government, it will be included in your financial aid package.
