Time Management
Graduate students can expect to spend approximately two shifts per week—about 15 to 21 hours per course—on coursework during the accelerated 8-week terms. This time is self-managed and spread across assignments such as: watching assigned videos, reading materials, posting and replying to discussion boards, completing projects or papers, taking quizzes, and reviewing material.
Academic Expectations
- Minimum passing grades and GPA standards:
To remain in good standing, MSN students must maintain a minimum grade of 83% (B) in each course. A 3.0 GPA is required to continue in the program and to graduate.
Note: RN to MSN students may have 300- or 400-level courses for which the minimum passing grade is a B (80%). - Where to find rubrics and grading policies:
Detailed grading scales and rubrics can be found in the Graduate Grading Policies. Review these early so you know how your work will be evaluated. - Tips for staying on track during each 8-week term:
- Create a weekly study plan (e.g., 2–3 hours/day, 6 days/week)
- Check Canvas daily
- Track all due dates — accelerated courses move fast
- Start assignments early — deadlines come up quickly
