West Coast University is excited to announce the arrival of Joshua Padron, Ed.D, the new executive director of the Miami campus. Dr. Padron has served in higher education for more than 13 years and his focus on student growth and outcomes and experience in leading educators makes him a great fit for WCU.
“I am excited to be joining this great organization that cares about colleagues, students and community members,” Dr. Padron said. “At the heart of West Coast University is student care and preparing the next generation of students who are passionate about their careers in nursing.”
A longtime South Florida resident, Dr. Padron is as deeply committed to his community and family as he is to improving and transforming higher education in the United States. Dr. Padron most recently served as Metro President for DeVry University South Florida but his previous positions show a vast understanding of university functions. He held prior roles in enrollment, marketing and admission departments where he assisted and influenced educational institutions in redefining their vision, mission and purpose, and implemented revitalizing turnaround plans.
“My parents sacrificed everything and came from Cuba so I could pursue my education and have opportunities they did not have. Engaging with people, teaching, coaching and mentoring are all things I’m passionate about and are in my heart,” Dr. Padron said.
Dr. Padron has a Doctorate of Education in Higher Education Leadership from Argosy University in Sarasota, Florida. He received his MBA degree from the University of Phoenix and his completed his undergraduate studies of religion at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida.
He is passionate about helping people achieve their dreams and says his message to students is simple: “Don’t give up, let’s make it happen; if I can do it, you can.”
Welcome to the West Coast University team, Dr. Padron!
