WCU Hosts Inaugural MSOT Alumni Reunion

Alumni from West Coast University's Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) program gathered for the inaugural alumni event in October at the Hilton Pasadena Hotel. Fifteen alumni networked and mingled with one another and faculty from the MSOT program.

"We are excited to provide more networking and workshops for our MSOT alumni in the near future including a February 2017 event," shared WCU Director of Alumni Relations Chini Camargo.

The alumni reception was held in conjunction with the annual Occupational Therapy Association of California (OTAC) conference, which many students and alumni attended as well. Heather J. Kitching, OTD, OTR/L, President of OTAC as well as the Reginal Director of OTAC, Lauren Heflin, OTR/L attended the inaugural alumni reception.

Founding MSOT Program Dean, Dr. Nicolaas Van Den Heever, shared some recent news and awards with attendees. Shari Poindexter, a current MSOT student won a $1,500 scholarship from the California Foundation for Occupational Therapy, Dr. Van Den Heever announced.

Dr. Van Den Heever also recognized Dr. Heather Thomas for receiving the OTAC Award of Excellence. Dr. Thomas served as faculty at West Coast University and is now the program director for the Occupational Therapy Assistant program at American Career College.
