Judith Francis is the associate dean of administration at West Coast University in Los Angeles. Originally from St. Vincent in the Caribbean, she came to the United States as a teenager and finished high school and then joined the U.S. Navy. After finishing her tour of duty in the Navy, Judith would go on to earn a master’s degree in psychology. As fate would have it, on September 11, 2001 she was working at the World Trade Center for a risk management firm.
She survived the attack, but would struggled with PTSD and panic attacks in the months following – the psychologist was now a patient. She eventually decided that she needed to leave New York City in order to move on with her life, and came to Southern California. Her powerful message to students is inspiring. See her story in the video above.
