IRVINE, Calif., May 09, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Robyn Nelson, DNSc, RN, Dean, College of Nursing at West Coast University, was recently elected to the 2012 — 2014 Board of Directors of the Association of California Nurse Leaders (ACNL).
In this position, Nelson will represent nurse leaders from academia on the statewide ACNL board. As dean of West Coast University, a private university with three campuses in the Los Angeles area, and one campus in Dallas TX, Nelson oversees the educational preparation of registered nurses at the baccalaureate and master’s levels.

Nelson received her Bachelor’s degree in nursing from Loma Linda University, her Master’s degree from Boston University and a Doctorate of Nursing Science from the University of California in San Francisco. Prior to her position at West Coast University, Nelson was dean over several health and education programs at Touro University in Nevada, and is former chair of the nursing program at CSU, Sacramento.
Nelson is an active member of local, state and national organizations, including the California Action Coalition–a group working to implement recent recommendations of the Institute of Medicine to improve health care delivery to patients and communities through increased involvement by US nurses at all levels of practice. She is active in her community through the efforts of the Irvine Rotary Club.
The Association of California Nurse Leaders is a nonprofit professional organization representing nurse leaders in hospitals, health systems, academia, research and business. For more than 30 years, ACNL has affected positive change for nursing and health care by developing nurse leaders, advancing the professional practice of nursing and improving the health of California’s communities.
