It's not only leprechauns that are looking for a pot of gold.

Career Services at West Coast University-Ontario hosted an interactive resource fair this March to help students improve their luck when they begin their job hunt.

Sample Career Service Quiz Questions

  • What are three ways Career Services can assist you?
  • What questions can you ask recruiters at a Career Fair?
  • What are ways to stand out in clinical rotations?
  • When can you complete the CNA application and become licensed?

“Today we’re hosting a Shamrock Hunt Resource Fair,” Michelle K. Meitner, WCU-Ontario career services director, said. “We hid shamrocks around campus and students brought them to the Resource Fair for a chance to answer a Career Services question and win a prize.”

Many of the questions focused on how students can prepare throughout the bachelor of science in nursing program to stand out to potential employers. Information about the certified nursing assistant application process was provided along with potential employment opportunities for current students to gain healthcare experience while in their BSN program.

“A lot of the answers revolved around professionalism, career planning, how to prepare for an interview and interview questions,” Meitner said.

Students could reach out to classmates for help or utilize Career Services resources to obtain the right answer. Correct responses earned students a spin of the prize wheel.

Prizes included portable WCU cell phone chargers, WCU backpacks, WCU stickers and WCU cell phone holders, along with gift cards for Starbucks, Amazon and AMC.

"Students were able to learn about developing their career plan during their education to stand out as new graduate registered nurses," Meitner said. "Some of the best ways to stand out are volunteering and working in healthcare during their BSN program."
