Private lending options

When necessary, WCU participates with private lenders to help students and their families bridge the gap between the cost of education and the amount covered by other financial aid programs. Private loans, which are privately insured, cover educational expenses beyond what is covered by federal loans. Specific eligibility requirements are outlined by each private lender, but are typically credit based. If you have no credit or a poor credit history, you may still qualify for a loan by applying with a creditworthy co-borrower.

WCU’s recommended private loan programs include:
Sallie Mae (Los Angeles)

Sallie Mae (Orange County)

Sallie Mae (Ontario)
Sallie Mae (Online)
Wells Fargo

The lenders listed are frequently used by WCU students.  Whether you utilize one of the listed lenders, or choose your own, WCU always recommends you evaluate all lenders Alternative Loan products. WCU provides the enclosed list as a guide to you; however, you are free to choose any lender without penalty.

In addition to private loans, a wide array of scholarships funded by outside sources are available to students. Scholarship eligibility criteria vary. The Financial Aid Office will be happy to assist students who wish to apply for scholarships.
