Creating a Culture of Assessment

Councils

WCU's ability to optimize the student learning environment is directly linked to our ability to assess ourselves: to define and measure outcomes.

There is no room for guesswork or estimates. Historically, assessment emphasized teaching excellence. While still true today, now a much greater emphasis is placed on academic excellence as defined by clear evidence of student learning.

Are students learning what they are intended to learn? Can they perform in the manner that they are intended to? To answer these questions, West Coast University has put in place several councils, relying on faculty and academic staff across the whole of the Institution to embrace a culture of assessment with the goal of improved student learning.
